 01 - 8:01pm, time to leave the easy life behind. |
 02 - 4WD campsite, 10000 feet acclimation. |
 03 - Sunrise over the Yosemite peaks. |
 04 - Saddlebag Lake, the scene of my secret camp. |
 05 - I didn't camp next to this building. |
 06 - One right turn can lead you away from civilization ... |
 07 - Right smack to the middle of nowhere. |
 08 - I found a dirt road and it was time to use the 4WD! |
 09 - This was an easy road. |
 10 - But it got worse. |
 11 - And then I was at the "parking lot". |
 12 - Time to start my weekend easy hike. |
 13 - First I had to go up this little hill. |
 14 - The truck is down the hill a bit. |
 15 - I went around the bend and found the "jungle". |
 16 - Soon I was lost in the jungle. The easy life was over. |
 17 - I thought this might be a path. |
 18 - I could have gone this way ... home. |
 19 - But I wasn't that smart. Just remember, paths are for wimps. |
 20 - Hours later, I'd successfully climbed about 30 feet. |
 21 - I was slowly working my way up this sloppy slope. |
 22 - Maybe I needed to be on the other side of the chasm, going up this path. |
 23 - But I couldn't cross the chasm (tm), so this was my way. |
 24 - I climbed over this big POS rocky area. |
 25 - And I was stuck in this tree on the edge of the rock. |
 26 - For some reason, I decided to go one shoe. |
 27 - Down was not looking so hot, so I wanted to go up. |
 28 - Up was good... but how??? |
 29 - This wall of rock surrounds the lake, or so I think. |
 30 - The sun was starting to get lower in the sky. What to do?? |
 31 - Time waits for no man, not even me. |
 32 - Tents are for wimps too. I hoped a bear would not eat me. |
 33 - Morning came eventually, breaking across the far valley. |
 34 - And before I knew it, I was ready to begin my trek again. |
 35 - With my pack of bear food. |
 36 - A new day brought renewed hope of scaling the unscalable wall. |
 37 - That would last for about two hours. |
 38 - But I did get above some trees. |
 39 - Which really wasn't quite that much higher. |
 40 - So I went up just a tad more. |
